At the "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iasi, the RECENT AIR Center infrastructure drives on a path of normality multiple elements specific to research activities for society. Through quality education and coherent strategies for the integration and use of the RECENT AIR infrastructure for sustainable development, recent research carried out at the "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iasi brings to the attention of specialists, citizens and society, the importance of: i) having generated trustfull scientific information regarding dangerous products that generate pollution and contaminate air, water and soil; ii) carrying out strategic studies for the accurate estimation of the degree of pollution in large urban agglomerations, with clear discrimination between local and/or regional cross-border contributions; iii) providing accurate scientific results to support economic development and people's well-being, with an emphasis on broad and equitable access for all to resources; iv) generating significant contributions during the process of improving water quality by reducing pollution from anthropogenic activities, and by proposing favorable measures for biodiversity conservation; v) monitoring mountain ecosystems in order to increase their capacity to provide essential benefits for sustainable development and proposing measures to combat soil degradation / desertification; vi) providing scientific know-how allowing the development of better plans for increasing people's power of adaptation to the impact of climate change, and vii) correctly informing the local and central public administration authorities such as to undertake correct measures that can contribute to reducing the effects of the nowadays stressors.
